Just Don't Do It.

Just don't do it. Ok, legit local charity job that helps the local community ? I'm in for one project a year like that. After that, your time, your gear,  your experience is worth something. I knew some one who'd been in the business for 10 years, a good shooter who continued to work for low ball rates and I asked why ? "Well its for my reel"... but you already have a good reel ! and we are not talking about getting something truly spectacular its worth it. All you are doing is leaving money on the table and devaluing the work of everyone. We all loose in the end,  not you got the gig and some one else didn't.

At some point, if you are reasonably skilled you should get paid for that work fairly. Yes I know we all get into the business interning, and on a few occasions working cheap but after 5 years you should be well past beginner unless all you get are a couple gigs a year.  At that point you need to ask yourself some serious questions about what you are doing and can you really make it in the biz.

I know I've probably posted on stuff like this before, but being a new year I'm looking for some changes. Mostly personal ones in finding some new and different projects. Probably top of my list is to shoot a feature this year. Its been a while since I've worked on one. How long ? well last time we shot S16mm long ago.  I'm looking for a new worthwhile challenging project this year... what do you have ?
